World Roulette Rules
Roulette is popular around the world, and as you might expect, there
are variations in the table and wheel layout across the globe, as well
as slight differences in the rules and payout. Make sure you understand
these before you play roulette online
at a casino site. It doesn´t take long to read the small print,
and understanding the T´s and C´s will be to your advantage
US Rules
A roulette wheel in the United States consists of 38 numbered slots:
numbers 1 to 36, a zero, and a double zero. The betting layout consists
of every single number as well as "outside bets" or combinations of
numbers.
This variant is most commonly known as American Roulette
Single Zero Rules
Many top-end casinos in the US have single-zero wheels. This includes
Las Vegas and Atlantic City. The minimum bet on a single zero wheels is
usually higher than the double zero wheels.
** Important: Single Zero roulette
tables have a lower house edge than double zero roulette whells, and
that includes those wheels online.
Atlantic City Roulette Rules
In Atlantic City even money bets (red, black, odd, even, 1-18, 19-36)
follow a similar rule to the European imprisonment rule. If 0 or 00
comes up, you will lose half of you even money bet. This lowers the
house advantage to 2.6% on even money bets. This rule does not apply on
single zero wheels in Atlantic City
European Roulette Rules
European roulette has the more player friendly single zero wheel and
also offers the "en prison" rule fro even money wagers. Similar to the
situation in Atlantic City above,on even money bets (red, black, odd,
even, 1-18, 19-36) you gets half you bet back when the ball lands on
zero or it "goes to prison". If this wins on the next round it is
released and you get it back (without the win).
Also look out for "La Partage" which gives half back without going "into prison".
